Warminster Township has been contacted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency regarding the identification of what are known as perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in private drinking wells near the former Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) located in Warminster, PA. These compounds are used in many consumer products, and are also associated with the use of fire-fighting foams such as those historically used at the former NAWC.
While these substances are currently not a regulated contaminant, they have a provisional health advisory level established by the EPA. The EPA, on behalf of the U.S. Navy, is taking proactive steps to determine if additional actions are needed to protect human health.
The EPA has begun testing privately owned wells in a defined area surrounding the NAWC. In order to get the word out, the Township has sent a letter to all known private well owners providing them with the Navy’s announcement and details on the information session being held at William Tennent High School August 27th from 5 to 9 PM.
This letter was mailed August 21, 2014. The Township will continue to make announcements on our web site and at our regular township meetings as more information comes to us.
EPA contacts regarding this matter are:
Larry Brown, EPA Community Involvement Coordinator
Sarah Kloss, EPA Remedial Project Manager

Warminster Community Needs Assessment Survey Needs Resident Input
Central Bucks Family YMCA is working with Warminster and YMCA of the USA, to conduct a community needs assessment for Warminster and would like resident input. To design services focused on the community, the Y would like to hear from the entire Warminster community, and we have agreed to distribute this survey. Based on this assessment, new programs and services may be offered that address critical issues in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This survey linkwill take you to a short online survey. The survey will be available through August 15, 2014. Survey responses are not individually tracked and are kept confidential. The assessment should take no more than five minutes to complete, and the results will be compiled into an executive summary that will be shared with our organization and others partnering with the Y in this effort.
Should you have any questions concerning the survey, please contact Trish Genghini, Senior Director of Marketing, Central Bucks Family YMCA, 215.348.8131, x1114 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
