Lawmakers to Host Public Meeting on Changes to Flood Maps

HARRISBURG – Three area legislators will host a public meeting next week in New Hope at which representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) will explain proposed changes to area flood maps.
The flood lines are being redrawn in 2014, which may make it necessary for some residents to obtain flood insurance for the first time. Bucks County Reps. Scott Petri (R-178), Bernie O’Neill (R-29) and Kathy Watson (R-144) have asked the agencies responsible for the proposed changes to explain the changes and how they will affect area citizens. In addition, officials of FEMA and DCED are being asked to provide citizens and municipal officials with information concerning their rights and the appeal process.
The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at the New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company,46 Sugan Road in New Hope.

The Board of Supervisors Public Meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 21st is rescheduled for Monday, November 25th at 7:00 pm in the Public Meeting Room of the Township Administration Building.

A special program to introduce basic firefighting skills to 14 and 15 years olds is held every Wednesday night from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at the Hartsville Fire Station. This is a hands-on program. Anyone who does not live in the Hartsville area is welcome; however, they must join the station closest to their home upon turning 16.
