Warminster Township Fire Department Receives $50,000 DCED Grant
Funds will be used for equipment & training
(WARMINSTER, Pa.) The Warminster Township Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce that Warminster Fire Department received a $50,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) to support the township’s firefighter programs. The grant was secured by State Senator Frank Farry (6th District R) and presented to the Warminster Fire Department on March 13.
The DCED grant process began as a conversation between Joe Velten, Director of Emergency Management & Services, Warminster Township, and Farry during the summer of 2024, when Farry offered Velten an opportunity to apply for the grant. Velten had expressed the need to fund equipment purchases and training opportunities, and maintain a positive balance in the Township’s Fire Fund, which helps volunteer fire departments maintain their services and their career firefighter programs.
“As a 35-year first responder, I know first-hand how important this funding is for those that put themselves on the front line to protect our community,” said Farry. “It is critical they have the resources to do their jobs and I am happy I was able to secure this funding for Warminster Fire Department.”
“We appreciate Senator Farry’s assistance in getting us these operational funds for our fire department,” said Velten. “The grant will allow the Township to purchase firefighter turnout gear, portable 911 radios, equipment to support rescue response during active shooter events, and pay for firefighter training.”
